IIAC have completed a preliminary review of the evidence in relation to silica and lung cancer.

This preliminary review concluded that there was insufficient evidence to warrant adding lung cancer in the absence of silicosis for workers exposed to silica to the list of prescribed diseases.

Introduction

The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC) is a scientific advisory body that provides independent advice to the Secretary of State for the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Social Development in Northern Ireland on matters relating to the Industrial Injury Disablement Benefit scheme.
